Elgin Implant Overdentures

Implant overdentures support your dentures and help them function and feel more like your own natural teeth.

What Are Implant Overdentures?

Overdentures are replacement teeth that are supported by dental implants. For this procedure, dental implants are surgically placed in your jawbone. After a healing period, a full arch of teeth is secured to the implants to give you a healthy natural-looking smile.

Benefits of Overdentures

  • Better fit – Your dentures will be stable and fit better than complete removable dentures. They won’t rub on your gums, cause irritation, or dislodge.
  • Better function – The stability of your dentures will improve your chewing efficiency, which promotes better digestion. It’s also easier to speak with dentures that are secure.
  • Stimulate bone growth – When all of your teeth are missing, your body resorbs the bone. Implants will stimulate your jawbone and prevent it from shrinking. If the bone shrinks, your facial muscles start to sag, which makes you look older.

Types of Overdentures

Ball-retained

Implants with ball attachments are placed in your jawbone. The denture base is made with sockets that fit the attachments.

Bar-retained

A metal bar is connected to the implants. The base of your replacement teeth is made with attachments that are secured to the bar.
