Elgin Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin wafers, about the thickness of a fingernail, that are bonded to the front of your natural teeth. They create a beautiful result that mimics your natural tooth structure better than any other material can. Porcelain resists stains even better than real tooth enamel and it’s durable enough to last for up to twenty years!
Veneers are used to correct a number of cosmetic issues quickly and comfortably. They can be used to close gaps between your teeth or even lengthen them. They’ve also been called “instant orthodontics” because you can have a beautiful smile in just two appointments– instead of years as with traditional braces.
If you want a new smile, Dr. Sirin will begin with a thorough examination. He’ll examine your teeth and take x-rays to make sure porcelain veneers will work for you. Once he determines you’re a good candidate for them, he’ll have you describe how you’d like your new smile to look according to your individual preferences. What color and shape do you want your smile to be? Should it convey warmth, confidence, or style? By providing these details, it will help him make your personalized smile that much more natural and appealing. We highly encourage you to bring in a picture of a smile that you like.
To prepare for your new smile, we might need to shave your teeth very slightly and remove about two-one-hundredths of an inch of your enamel. This will help us to prepare each tooth for the porcelain veneer so that when it’s placed, it doesn’t appear or feel bulky. In some cases, you may not require any preparation at all.
Next, Dr. Sirin will create a model or wax-up of your veneers. We will use the wax-up to create a set of temporary veneers for you to try on and wear. This “testing” process enables you to try out your new smile and make sure it looks and feels perfect before the permanent veneers are bonded to your teeth. In the try on phase, you can tell Dr. Sirin how you feel about them. If you’d like any final changes, he’ll be happy to pass them on to his master ceramist, who will then create your permanent veneers.
