He’s your favorite dentist, but how much do you really know about Dr. Sirin? Dr. Sirin is originally from Cape Town, South Africa. He moved to California when he was just 10 years old, and it was around this time that he had to get braces. Having braces put on at such a young age inspired him to become a dentist, and as he got older– his passion only grew. He decided dentistry was the career path he wanted to take and has been thoroughly enjoying it ever since.
Dr. Sirin earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry from the University of California. As he began applying to dental schools, he started traveling and fell in love with the Chicago area. He went on to attend Northwestern University Dental School and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1998. After dental school, Dr. Sirin moved back to California to practice, but a few years later he returned to the Chicago area where he has lived and practiced since 2002.
He continues to further his education by completing 30-50 hours of post-graduate training every year. This extensive training course focuses on cosmetic dentistry services including tooth whitening, porcelain veneers, and porcelain crowns. Dr. Sirin is also an active member of many prominent dental associations including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society.
Dr. Sirin doesn’t simply want to fix your teeth, he wants to make it look as if they were never broken, decayed, discolored or misaligned in the first place. He always tries to achieve these goals without damaging your tooth structure by practicing minimally invasive dentistry. What this philosophy means to you is that Dr. Sirin will always strive to be as conservative as possible when it comes to caring for your teeth. He would much rather prevent a cavity than fill it. To him, a small filling is much better than a big one, and he will always try and save your tooth– rather than just pull it out.
Words of Wisdom
According to the doctor, “My goal is not to just do the same thing every day but to advance myself and stay ahead of the curve and push myself a little more with every patient and every challenge that I encounter. It’s an exciting time to be in dentistry and I am thankful every day that I have the opportunity to do what I love and be a part of this profession.”
When he isn’t working or furthering his education, Dr. Sirin enjoys bicycle riding around Elgin, cooking and traveling to new and exciting places.
