Originally from Cape Town, South Africa Dr. Sirin moved to California when he was 10 years old. Having braces at a young age is what started him talking about a career in dentistry. As he got older and began considering a profession, dentistry’s appeal got stronger.
Dr. Sirin earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry from the University of California. As he applied to dental schools he began traveling around and fell in love with the Chicago area. He went on to attend Northwestern University Dental School and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1998. After dental school Dr. Sirin moved back to California to practice, but after a few years returned to the Chicago area where he has lived and practiced since 2002.
Dr. Sirin continues to further his education by completing 30-50 hours of post-graduate training every year. This extensive training often focuses on cosmetic dentistry services such as tooth whitening, porcelain veneers and porcelain crowns. Dr. Sirin is also an active member of many prominent dental associations including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society.
Dr. Sirin doesn’t merely want to fix your teeth, he wants to make it look as if they were never broken, decayed, discolored or misaligned in the first place. He strives to achieve those goals without unnecessarily cutting away tooth structure by practicing minimally invasive dentistry. What this philosophy means to you is that Dr. Sirin will always strive to be conservative in your dental care. He would much rather prevent a cavity than fill it. To him a small filling is much better than a big one. He will always try and save your tooth, rather than just pull it out.
According to Dr. Sirin, “My goal is not to just do the same thing every day, but to advance myself and stay ahead of the curve and push myself a little more with every patient and every challenge that I encounter. It’s an exciting time to be in dentistry and I am thankful every day that I have the opportunity to do what I love and be a part of this profession.”
When he is not practicing dentistry Dr. Sirin enjoys bicycle riding around Elgin, cooking and traveling.
